OHG election update

We have important news! We finally have a date for our union election: Wednesday, October 30, 2019.

This election date is the result of a negotiation between McClatchy's lawyers and the News Guild's lawyers that was approved by the National Labor Relations Board today.

This is an exciting moment for the Miami Herald and el Nuevo Herald newsroom and its journalists. 
Voting will take place in from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Everglades Room of the Doral office. It is crucially important that everyone votes in person during one of these times. Only a small number of colleagues who work outside of South Florida will receive mail-in ballots. Mail ballots must be received by the NLRB by Nov. 18.

Ballots are secret, and management will never see your vote.

We are so excited to take this next step! We have been feeling empowered as we see other newsrooms win their elections, most recently at the Arizona Republic on October 10th. We will be sharing details soon about One Herald Guild post-election celebrations!
